Newmont were pleased to host a group of young Btec Level 2 Engineering students on Wednesday 24 May at their Isleworth facility. During the visit they learned about our manufacturing processes, waste management and how the requirements of ISO 9001 and the aerospace standard AS9100 drive our stringent quality control system.
They were given a tour of the workshop and a demonstration of the Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) in Inspection. By the end of the visit, they had an appreciation of the different processes required to manufacture a product and the various roles within the organisation.
These visits are part of our strategy to inspire young people by offering first-hand experience of the manufacturing engineering industry. We hope that they will be encouraged to look for work experience and/or apprenticeships with Newmont or other UK companies in the future.
